Oshi had two things in her upbringing that have a hand in her love for all things nerdy and geeky.
One of those was dancing, which allowed her to create stories through movement within a world she was totally in control of. The second was her grandfather’s encouragement to read classical writers like Shakespeare, Milton, and Wordsworth at a very young age. The world’s they created ignited a fire to consume as much literature that created imagery beyond her own experiences.
As an Anthropologist she analyses the various spaces of literature, especially fantastic literature, manga and graphic novels to decode her understanding of societal norms. Many areas of “geek/nerd culture” deal so well in the idea of human nature, a concept that she has a difficult time comprehending. So, she turned to embracing all things geeky and nerdy as a form of immersive therapy.
It has evolved to a large part of her life. “Geek/nerd culture” has allowed her to tap into a creative part of her brain. One that allows her to write poetry, make art and immerse herself in a character – it has given her the freedom of expression. A freedom that she hopes to share with you.
